Introduction to Panasonic Phone Systems:
Panasonic phone systems are some of the most sophisticated and reliable in the world. Panasonic makes different types of phone systems to meet an array of needs. The Panasonic KX-TA824 is configured as 3 lines and 8 extensions and can grow to 8 lins and 24 extensions. It is made for small to medium sized businesses or homes. The Panasonic KX-TAW848 is initially configured as 4 lines and 4 extensions and can grow to 8 lines and 48 extensions (works with up to 28 KX-TD7684 or KX-TD7694 multi-cell wireless phones). There are several distinctions between the Panasonic KX-TAW84 and Panasonic KX-TA824. The main feature difference between the KX-TA824 and KX-TAW848 comes into play when utilizing the Panasonic KX-TVA50 or KX-TVA200 voice mail systems. These voice mail units have many features and can get your business up and running in an incredibly professional manner. So one thing to keep in mind when connecting the Panasonic KX-TA824 to the KX-TVA50 or KX-TVA200 voice mail is the following: when a person calls in and the voice mail picks up the line hello you have reached company xyz, for sales press 1, for customer service press 2, etc. Lets say that the customer presses 1 for sales. If you have 1 person in sales you will be fine with the KX-TA824 because the KX-TA824 is only capable of assigning 1 phone to a specific voice mail option. So if you want more than 1 person assigned to an extension group, you would want to go with the Panasonic KX-TAW848. With the KX-TAW848 you could assign up to 8 phones to a call group. So if a customer calls and they press 1 for sales, you could assign whichever phones you would like to ring. So if you have 4 people in sales, all of their phones would ring when the customer presses 1. This is the main difference between the Panasonic KX-TA824 and the Panasonic KX-TAW848. The other main difference between the two Panasonic phone systems is the fact that the KX-TAW848 can be connected to cordless phones that run off of cell stations. These would only be necessary if you have a large space and/or need cordless phones working in conjunction with your phone system. The Panasonic KX-TAW848 does cost about 20%-25% more than the KX-TA824, not including caller ID cards, expansion cards, etc. The KX-TA824 comes with a caller ID card for all 3 lines, a DISA auto-attendant card, and remote administration card; the KX-TAW848 do not come with these add-ons.
Analog Panasonic Phone Systems vs. Digital and VoIP Panasonic Phone Systems:
There is a lot of confusion about the difference between analog phone systems and digital phone systems. The answer is, not much. Panasonic digital phone systems such as the KX-TDA50, KX-TDA100 and KX-TDA200 (I wont mention the KX-TD1232, which was extremely popular but discontinued) work in a very similar way to the Panasonic KX-TAW848. In fact, programming the KX-TDA50 is almost identical to programming the KX-TAW848. There are several differences between the Panasonic digital KX-TDA and brand new KX-TDE phone systems and the analog KX-TA824 and KX-TAW848 phone systems. The main difference is networking. With the Panasonic KX-TDA digital phone systems, you have the ability to insert a gateway card into the phone system and connect different locations. For example, if you have a store uptown and a store downtown, you can put the KX-TDA50 or KX-TDA100 in BOTH locations. In this manner, both locations can connect to each other and act as one location. So if your phone number is 222-222-2222, if a customer calls that number, the phone will ring in both the uptown store and the downtown store simultaneously. You can also page people from the remote location. But keep in mind that you need the KX-TDA cabinet in both locations.
